Whether you use your electronics on a day-to-day basis or just once in a while, they always attract dust, some of which is visible, others not. You can test this out with your TV, computer, laptop, phone, CD player, game consoles, etc. However, if you do make the effort of keeping dust at bay, not only will your electronics function better and last longer, but the air in the room will also be just a little fresher.
How to clean your electronics: You can safely clean your electronics with anti-bacterial and germ-destroying products available in the market. Alternatively, you can use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of dust embedded in the crevices and corners of your electronics.
You might also like to invest in gentle dusting solution that’s chemical-free. Blow out all dust from your electronics items using a can of compressed air. By keeping your electronics dust-free, you can minimize the spread of viruses.
Remember to switch off the power from your electronics gadgets before using a liquid cleaning solution. Use only as much cleaning liquid as the instructions on the gadgets specify. Don’t get the components of your electronics gadgets wet by spraying cleaning liquid on the product before cleaning it. Instead, spray cleaning liquid on to a cleaning cloth.
You might, by mistake, spill a little cleaning liquid inside your electronic product. Don’t panic. All you need do is to wait until your gadget dries out before cleaning it with a cleaning compound. Once it is completely dry, you can try using it again.
Remove all dust with a dry cloth, especially when wiping cables and wires. Ensure that you check for dust in your plug-ins, power bars and adapters. Don’t press any buttons when wiping an electronic gadget of dust or dirt or this will change any vital settings.
Extended warranty for your gadgets: You can get an extended warranty on each of your gadgets as part of your maintenance and service contract that your manufacturer provides you with. This lengthens the warranty period of your electronics and home appliances.
This extended warranty includes repairing and maintenance of your gadgets and appliances even after the expiry of the basic warranty period is over. Consumers are expected to pay a lump sum fee which works out to be almost 20%-30% of the basic price of your gadget or appliance.
Consumer electronics need periodic maintenance or service by the company’s service personnel, generally after the first two years of use. Only after the warranty period of the electronics item expires, it may start to malfunction. This is when extended warranties come in and serve the customer better. So, go out and get your extended warranty and do all you can to keep a dust-free home or office for the long life of your electronics gadgets.
