Kolkata, Sep 16 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) Tollywood actor Rahul’s character in the upcoming film ‘Katakuti- A Game of Relationship’ has shades of the real life character of Rizwanur Rehman, who was found dead by railway track a few years back following his marriage with a Hindu industrialist’s daughter.
It was revealed at the music launch of the film in Kolkata on Thursday that Rahul plays the role of a mentally challenged patient and his role will resemble Rizwanur to some extent though he does not die in the film to send across that message that all Rizwanurs do not die in the end.
The film will also see two singers, Nachiketa and Shilajit, sharing the screen together for the first time in any Bengali film.
Written and directed by Premanshu Roy, the film is about the devastating effect of the invasion of wrong desires and ambitions on the life of individuals leading to various complexities.
Apart from acting in the film Nachiketa is also doubling up as the music director of the film.
“I am a kind of person who does not like the interfering of others in my work and as there was no such issues with the director and producer of this film, I agreed to be the music director,” said Nachiketa at the music launch Thursday.
Nachiketa is also going to make a comeback as a singer through this film where he has sung four songs including the title song ‘khelche katakutir samay’.
About the title song, he said, “I wrote the song very casually and had no idea at first that it would became the title song.”
Shubomita and June Banerjee also have playbacked one song each for the film.
Slated to be released in November, the film has a cast consisting of Sreelekha Mitra, Rupanjana, Krishna Kishor Mukherjee, Rumki Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee and many others.
Jaya Seal Ghosh is set to begin her second innings in her movie career with this film while veteran actor Monoj Mitra will also play an important role.
Almost every member of the cast was present at the music launch, held on a luxury boat admist the Ganges, making it a starry affair.
“We have made a decent film and we wanted to present the audience a film which they will love to see,” said Sudipta Ray Chowdhury, producer of the film.
