Jean Becker retrospective in IFFI 2010

Panaji, December 5, 2010 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010had  special retrospective on French filmmaker Jean Becker.

Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), co-host for the festival, told reporters that four movies will be screened during the festival as a tribute to the legendary filmmaker.

The retrospective section will open with his 1983-made French film titled ‘One Deadly Summer’, which he made after a gap of 20 years.

“This movie has won several national and international awards including Cesar Award in France for the Best Actress, Supporting Actress, Editing and Best Writing,” said the officials.

His other films titled ‘Elisa ‘(1995), ‘Conversation with My Gardener ‘(2007) and ‘Love Me No More’ (2008) will also be screened.

Going back to his past experience, Becker made his first movie ‘Un Nomme La Rocca (A Man Named Rocca) in 1961, followed by Tender Voyou (Tender Scoundrel) in 1966 and other films which were quite successful.

After completing episodes of the hit television series Les Saintes Cherries, the filmmaker opted for a break and re-launched himself after 20 years.
