April 11, 2010 (Calcutta Tube): In one week after its release, Ankit Tewari’s debut album ‘Jannat’ has sold out 3000 copies.

The self-taught and jam room groomed musician, Tewari, has taken the Hindi-Urdu Rick music to a whole new level.” It is sad that Bollywood music gets all the attention”, he said. Hopefully things are changing now for new artists.

The Musician has worked on several Hindi films like Lets Enjoy, Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local and Aao Wish Karen.

And for Tewari, it’s not just music. He worked as the assistant director to Sanjay Kapoor in Zoya Khans movie Luck by chance. Upon being asked on what he wants to do next, Tewari answered, “People keep asking me what I want to and what I am doing. The truth is I don’t know. I am just walking forward and things are just happening to me.”

His album has been co-produced by Pakistani musician Xulfi, who wrote the lyrics for ‘Laree Chooti’ from Ek Chaalis ki Last Local. Tewari has also written lyrics for several songs including ‘Bheegi Bheegi’ for the same movie. He has also directed an array of music videos like ‘Kangna’ by Dr. Zeus and ‘Armaan’ by Kailash Kher.
