Jammu and Kashmir Police to Sue Facebook, Youtube‎ over Naked parade video

September 9, 2010, (Calcutta Tube/AIP): Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police on Thursday said a stone-pelting video clip, posted on You Tube and Facebook, is ‘regrettable’.

“Police has taken cognizance of the 03 minute video clip purportedly showing some boys being paraded by Security Forces in Sopore, up loaded on You Tube and Facebook,” said the J&K police in a statement sent to Agence India press.

“In the initial investigation it has been found that these reports have not been verified as yet and therefore to attribute it to security forces with the intention of maligning them and spreading is affection amongst the people is highly regrettable,” the statement read.

A formal case is being registered against the networks and investigation is being taken up to locate the persons responsible for upload of this ‘baseless and malicious’ clip, said the police, adding action shall also be taken against other organizations who tried to propagate it.

Meanwhile, central government on Thursday said a video clip, purportedly shows uniformed personnel herding four naked young men in Kashmir, had not been “authenticated” and agencies had been asked to investigate the matter.

In Delhi, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said: “No one has been able to authenticate the video so far.”

Chidambaram said he had asked security agencies to find out whether anybody featuring in the video had spoken out.

“Until it is authenticated and the persons identified, I think it would be unsafe to rely on such a video,” Chidambaram said. (AIPTV)

  1. The Govt. should investigate this matter rather calling it biased! Tortures on Kashmiri people by Indian army is not a new thing.
    So, I’m not surprised for this video footage.
