Kolkata, Sept 6 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) The city of joy missed out its first Indian Fashion Carnival that was going to be held Sept 10-12. Mindscapes One, the organizer of Indian Fashion Carnival that was announced on August 31 here, on Saturday said event has been postponed for an indefinite period due to unavoidable circumstances.
Pratik Sen, Director of Mindscapes One, said, “My sincere apologies to the weavers of Bengal, my team of designers who were working on their collections to be showcased at Indian Fashion Carnival and to the people of Kolkata who were also eagerly waiting to celebrate the fashion carnival with us for postponing this event.
“The event has been postponed for the time being due to certain unavoidable circumstances and operational difficulties, but we promise to return to you soon to announce the new dates for the Indian Fashion Carnival.”
“We are also very surprised at the way some very important & big dignitaries names were linked with Indian Fashion Carnival as probable guests by media speculations without any attribution from us or the names in concern,” he added.
Indian Fashion carnival was conceptualized with a noble theme of paying tribute to Father of Nation: Mahatma Gandhi and to create a platform to showcase the quintessential fibre-‘Khadi’.
“Attuned to ‘Save the Weaver’ concept of United Nations we had also conceptualized Weavers’ Village – as a platform, where we were trying to get some prominent dignitaries to grace the occasion, so that the platform would serve as a bridge between the weavers and the people who can make differences in their daily life and to help them keep up their good work,” Sen added.
The fashion extravaganza was to be graced by designers like Bibi Russell, Zubair Kirmani, Rohit Karma, Riyaz Gangjee, James Ferreira and Soumitra Mondol among others.
