India International Jewellery Show inaugurated in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 5 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), Asia’s leading jewellery show by The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), was inaugurated here on Thursday.
The event was kick started in the presence of PK Chaudhery, Special Secretary of Department of Commerce and Industry, and Mohammed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre.
IIJS is in its 28th year and will see a congregation of more than 800 companies participating from India and overseas.
Trade delegations are expected from Bangladesh, Nepal, Uzbekistan, China, Iran, Azerbaijan, UAE, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Italy, Thailand to name a few and in addition, there will be a large number of delegations from regional trade associations from across India.

Eminent jewellers from Kolkata like PC Chandra, B C Sen, Senco Gold, Sawansukha, Surana Gem & Jwellery are participating in the 28th edition of Infia Imternational Jewellery Show presented by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council

Rajiv Jain, Chairman of GJEPC, said: “This year there are more exhibitors in the show as opposed to previous years. Success of the show can be gauged by the fact that 97% of the previous participants are a part of this current show and this year, we expect more trade to be transacted as the market scenario has changed favourably.”

This year, taking the task of promoting Indian art internationally, GJEPC has joined hands with the World Crafts Council (WCC) to work towards the revival of Indian crafts as the main objective.   .

The Diamond India Limited (DIL) show will hold an auction of polished diamonds at IIJS 2011 which will be an opportunity for manufacturers and jewellers to procure diamonds directly from the source.

The auction lots will be of all sizes from 0.001 carat upwards and the auction will be held on August 5, 6 & 7 in the loose stones section.

IIJS 2011 promises to provide a platform to traders and be a landmark sourcing event for the diamond industry and set records higher than 2010 truly establishing it as the India Show.

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council is an all-India apex body for Gem & Jewellery representing 5,500 members. Set up in 1966, it operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.
