Panaji, Nov 18 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) Union Ministry of Tourism is leading the sponsorships list for the 42nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) by funding Rs 2.7 crore out of total Rs 10 crore festival budget, officials said.
The ministry has pumped in the huge amount for advertising ‘Incredible India Campaign’ on a larger scale throughout the event.
Speaking at a press conference, IFFI Director Shankar Mohan said the festival will host a special section for films on tourism.
“The section will screen short films on tourism to promote India as a tourist destination. Simultaneously, conferences will also be held wherein special invitees will deliver talks,” Mohan said.
The festival, which has received tremendous response from other sponsors as well, covers 40 percent of the total expenditure of the festival budget through sponsors.
The sponsors list also includes Qatar Airways, which will fly international delegates, and Kingfisher. Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) officials, which has collected Rs two crores from the two companies, said the sponsorships for the festival are increasing annually.
Five star hotel Cidade de Goa has been roped in as ‘festival hotel’, and All India Radio and Doordarshan have been announced as official media partners for the 10-day festival scheduled to begin from November 23.
