IFFI 2011 to have multilevel movie contents

Panaji, Sept 6 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) The preparation for the 10-day International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2011 in Goa has begun with organizers vouching to bring multilevel movie contents on par with other international film festivals.

IFFI’s Steering Committee Chairman Mike Pandey told reporters that content of all the movies which will be shown under various categories for the festival, are being scrutinized.

“IFFI has the potential to be the best in the world…This is our aim for IFFI 2011 and I strongly believe that we can achieve this target,” he said.

The glitterati festival which is scheduled to begin in Goa on November 23 will have its opening ceremony at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, 30 kms from the capital.

The steering committee of experts has been formed to take the hurdles off the festival preparations. Pandey, a well-known wildlife filmmaker said further the festival this year is also aiming at global market to reach out to all the young filmmakers.

 “We want that young and enthusiast filmmakers participate in the festival. For this, we have also launched ‘One minute documentary’ on ‘Incredible India’ from this year,” he said.

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Goa government and Union Ministry for Information and Broadcasting will be signed on September 9.

State Chief Secretary Sajay Srivastava, to a question over apprehensions regarding Goa’s status as permanent venue for IFFI, said Goa has been retained as permanent venue.

The State has already set up IFFI secretariat to look after all the aspects of the festival.
