Launched in November 2007, the Hyundai i10 is a very recent entry in the small car segment. The main attraction of Hyundai i10 is its powerful engine and beautiful interiors. The engine of i10 is the new Kappa engine. The Kappa engine accelerates at a rate of 0 1- 00 in a short as 12.8 seconds flat. The other features of the engine are 5200 rpm, 114 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The Kappa engine has very less vibrations and low emission making it an eco friendly car.
The engine has another special feature called Inline Focer Intelligent Responsive Engine (iRDE) and 1.1 liter capacity technology helps to increase mileage and performance.
The McPherson Strut suspension and the CTBA with coil springs helps easy driving on Indian roads. The short wheelbase makes maneuvering very easy. There are ventilated discs in the front, the rear is provided with self adjusting drums.
The tubeless tyres are also designed for slippery curves by giving enough comfort and grip. The brakes are an upgrade of the brakes of Santro. There is anti lock braking system provided in the car.
Fuel efficiency of i10 has been much appreciated. It gives 18.8 km/liter on long drives and 15.43 km/liter on city roads with air conditioners switched on. The average fuel efficiency is around 16.29 km/liter.
The interiors of i10 are spaciously designed and glamorous. The color of interiors is beige the color makes the interiors look bigger. There is a stereo integrated in the dashboard and the gearshift is muscular. The buttons for air conditioners and centre locking are quite large. The interiors have other features like switch and control. The front and rear seats are stylish. There is smaller legroom for the rear seats. However, tall people do not find it very difficult to drive this small car like other small cars.
The i10 is available in four variants namely D-lite, Era, Magna and Magna D. The Magna D is the most elite. It has sun roof, air bags, excellent safety features and 2DIN CD players. The windscreen and the ellipsoidal glass give the car an impressive and stylish look. The sweep wipers give maximum vision on rainy days.
i10 has become a popular car in the ‘A’ segment. It takes on competition with small cars like Chevorlet Spark, Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Maruti Suzuki Sen Estillo and Tata Indica.
