New Delhi, Dec 30 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS): Robert Downey Jr.’s sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows hit the big screens in India on Friday.
Directed by Guy Ritchie, this British-American action detective flick is a sequel to the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes.
Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law reprise their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively and the duo join forces to outwit and bring down their most cunning adversary, Professor Moriarty, played by Jared Harris.
The film is produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey, and Dan Lin and is influenced by Conan Doyle’s work ‘The Final Problem’. However, it is an independent story rather than a replicated adaptation.
The film opened on Dec 16, 2011. In US and Canada, it made $14.6 million on its opening day – less than the opening day gross of the original flick which gathered around $24.6 million.
On the other hand, in UK it collected revenue of £3.83m in three days.
