Kolkata, January 2, 2010 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS): Kolkata walked a step further in the field of Neonatal care as an advanced high frequency ventilator named ‘VN 500 Neonatal Workstation’ was installed in Bhagirathi Neotia Woman and Child Care Centre (BNWCCC).
The high frequency ventilator is the first-of-its-kind to be installed in Eastern India.
“…the VN 500 combines the latest technology coupled with a simplified and easy to use user interface,” Dr Thomas Schaible, Neonatologist, Artz Klinikum Mannheim Kinderklinik, Mannheim, Germany said at the event.
The device will provide new-born babies with critical Neonatal care and advanced ventilation facilities.
Advanced from the earlier editions of the ventilators, the versatility and range of operation of this machine is well suited for special care nurseries and pediatric intensive care units.
“The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Bhagirathi Neotia Woman and Child Care Centre in by far the best available option in the eastern part of India and with the installation of this machine we will be among the top hospital brands in India who owns a comprehensive mother and child care,” Pradeep Lal Mehta, CEO- BNWCCC said.
“The machine allows ventilation in heavier babies without damaging the lungs,” said Dr Rana Mukherjee, Group Director, Medical Services.
