Chandigarh, Nov 20 (IANS) Haryana will explore the possibility of setting up four cow sanctuaries in the state to help save cows, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Saturday.
Addressing a conference on cow protection at Panipat town, 160 km from here, Hooda said the Haryana government was committed to protecting cows from illegal trafficking and slaughter.
‘The government would actively consider the suggestions made by Haryana Rajya Gaushala Sangh to impound vehicles involved in illegal trafficking and cow slaughtering,’ he said.
He added that vehicles carrying cows illegally for slaughtering would be impounded like it is done in case of liquor smuggling.
The state government had, earlier this year, set up a Cow Commission for the protection of cows.
