New Delhi, Feb 14 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Come Valentine’s Day and there’s love all over and this year even Google seems to be mesmerized by the spirit of the occasion which is precisely the reason one can see a new Google doodle on the homepage specially designed for the day.
The musical video doodle features an animated love story of a boy trying to impress a girl, busy skipping rope, with various gifts. The boy seeks help from Google, but his online searches for gifts including flowers, chocolates and colorful balloons etc. go in vain as the girl remains unmoved and ‘cold’. Even a top-hat with a peek-a-boo bunny holds no romantic magic; neither a T-shirt nor teddy bear ‘melts her heart’.
However, he finally plucks the right string when unconsciously he too comes and joins her in the game of skipping. Together, both of them continue to skip.
Set to Grammy winning Tony Bennett’s rendition of Hank Williams’ classic blues ballad ‘Cold, Cold Heart’, the doodle is really romantic and unique unlike last year when it was an artwork with dazzling colors and to give the Valentine tint, the first ‘O’ of Google logo was replaced by a heart.
Interestingly, the default image is of the same cartoon boy-lover holding a Valentine with the grayish Google logo in the background. Once you click this Valentine, the sweet love-story begins.
Created by Wille Real and Michael “Lippy” Lipman, the doodle story ends with half-dozen tiles featuring various couples including an astronaut and an alien; a dog and a cat; and a frog and a prince etc.
Hovering over the doodle displays the message, “Happy Valentine’s Day! Cold, Cold Heart performed by Tony Bennett courtesy of Columbia Records and Sony/ATV” and clicking on the doodle further leads to the Google search for Valentine’s Day.
The deeper message of the doodle implies that when it comes to LOVE, even Google can’t seek it. It has to come from heart and the cupid will strike the right way if it’s true.
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
