George Clooney, Meryl Streep bag Golden Globe Awards

Los Angeles, Jan 16 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Family drama The Descendants  about a Hawaii land baron and his family was adjudged the Best Motion Picture while its lead actor George Clooney also lifted the Best Actor trophy in the 69th Golden Globe Awards which saw  Meryl Streep walking away with the Best Actress playing Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

The other big winner of the night was “The Artist” which bagged three awards, including one for best comedy.

The 69th Golden Globe Awards were presented on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The event witnessed many high-profile celebrities from Hollywood turning-up, clad in beautiful attires thus raising the glamour quotient at the red carpet.

The Golden Globe Award is an honor bestowed by the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) recognizing excellence in film and television, both domestic and foreign.
