Funeral of senior navy officer in Kochi Friday

Kochi (Kerala), July 8 (Calcutta Tube) The funeral of the senior Indian Navy officer who was killed Wednesday in an accidental firing at a Kochi gunnery school will be held at Thoppumpady, near here Friday, an official said.

Rear Admiral S.S. Jamwal was killed when a bullet from his pistol hit him during a training session.

The autopsy was conducted Thursday at the Alappuzha Medical College.

A statement issued by the defence public relations officer said that mourning ceremonies would be held in Jamwal’s Jammu hometown July 16 and July 19.

Jamwal was commissioned into the navy July 1, 1980. He is survived by his wife Geeta and two children.
