Kolkata, Feb 13 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Kolkata based 91.9 Friends FM announced the second edition of the “Bangla Sangeet Purashkar 2012” in the city on Monday.
Music director Rishi Chanda, singer Rupankar, Jaideep Banerjee, General Manager, Programming and Brand, 91.9 Friends FM, Sandip Mishra, GKF mode, Branch Manager, Arun Kr. Chakrborty, chairman of NDV were present at the event.
Speaking at the press conference, Jaideep said, “This is the first bangla sangeet award which is based completely on audience voting and is the most scientifically done music award in the country.”
Rupankar said, “Award inspires a lot and here depending upon the award, the works are done and most interestingly, this award has no jury.”
The winners will be selected from the nominations, completely based on people’s choice by means of voting.
The awards are divided into three categories- Rabindragangeet, Bangla Adhunik and Bangla Film.
Rishi said, “Bangla music has improved a lot, this type of award ceremony motivates the artist and is very essential.”
Voting lines will open from Tuesday and people can vote online, via sms or fill up forms provided in newspapers.
The award ceremony will take place on Feb 25 at Science City auditorium.
