Kolkata, Aug 22 (IBNS) Bengal Olympic Association lifetime president and former All India Football Federation (AIFF) secretary, Ashoke Ghosh, died in his sleep in the wee hours of Thursday morning, BOA sources said.
Ghosh, who breathed last at 2:30 am hours, was 78, family sources said.
Ghosh, who brought India into the soccer map of the continent in the 80s and early 90s by organising the first Nehru Football Championship in 1992, where a world class Uruguay side played, was at the helm of Indian Football Association and the AIFF for several years.
He also held many important portfolios in various social and sporting associations during the last forty years.
A separate report said promising football player of Tollygunge Agragami Ashesh Das died of Dengu on Wednesday night.
