Kolkata, Feb 13 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): The prize distribution ceremony for the exotic “Annual Flower Show 2012” that was organized by the Agri-Horticultural Society of India (AHSI) for the last couple of days was held on Sunday.
M.K. Narayanan, Governor of West Bengal, Lal Thanhawsla, chief minister of Mizoram, Joel Melchiori, Consul General of Italy in Kolkata and artist Subhaprasanna were present at the occasion.
The flower show which commenced on Thursday was dedicated to Rev. Willium Carey, the founder of the Society on his 250th birth anniversary.
The Annual Flower show displayed more than 20 different classes and nearly 200 sections covering palms, ferns, ornamental, cacti, succulents, vegetables, fruits, herbal plants, roses and gladioli.
Special attractions of the show were Wafu Ikebana School of Japan exhibiting Ikebana flower arrangement, floral arrangement by KRTSTI, display of photographs on nature.
There were competition in formations and different presents – flower in pot, cut flowers, table decorations with flowers, feature gardens and vegetable competition.
