Amitabh Bhattacharjee

Amitabh Bhattacharjee
Date of Birth: August 15th, 1978

Amitabh Bhattacharjee ( or, Amitabh Bhattacharya) is an Bengali and Hindi film actor. He is from Delhi. He has done quite a few Bengali movies so far. His debut film was “Raasta” directed by Bratya Basu. He has recently done few hindi movies also. His work in “The Legend of Bhagat Singh” has received high level of appreciation.  He played revolutionary Jatin Das in Rajkumar Santoshi’s  – The Legend of Bhagat Singh. He went to Uniterversity of Delhi for his education. He also started his career as an actor in Delhi. During that time he worked in a group called “Bikalpo“. Bikalpo made different plays with Habib Tanveer even in Bengali. However, Amitabh Bhattacharjee was more into production than in acting during those days. He used to fill up scenes when the main actor turned out to be not so good! Some of his friends asked him to prepare a portfolio, and somehow he was lucky to have one as Rajkumar Santoshi found his photographs from his portfolio and choose him for the role of Jatin Das.

He has also worked on a Bengali mega-serial Durga directed by Shakti Samanta. He is a very common face in small screen really.

Amitabh Bhattacharjee has worked under numerous directors in Bengali films since his debut film Rasta in 2003. Some notable directors being Buddhadeb Dasgupta, Arjun Chakraborty, Haranath Chakraorty and more. He has also shared screen with famous Bengali film actors like Mithun Chakraborty, Soumitra Chatterjee, Biplab Chatterjee, Dipankar Dey, Ranjit Mullick, Prosenjit Chakraborty and more. He has done some action films but he probably suits more as a romantic hero due to his handsome look and tall gesture.

Shikar (2006)  was a hardcore thriller with some romantic touch in the film. Amitabh played double role in the movie – a hardcore mercenary with a psychic past and a cop! Amitabh got a good chance to mess up with Koel Mullick in the thriller movie! He has worked in the much discussed film directed by Arjun Chakraborty “Tollylights”. He has done multiple movies with Mithun Chakraborty also. He likes to try different types of charecters.

He has done “Ami Yasin Aar Amar Madhubala” which is ready for release directed by famous Buddhadeb Dasgupta. Amitabh plays the role of peeping Tom (so does Prosenjit also).
