Edinburgh, Dec 18 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Don’t be surprised if you get to see eight maids breastfeeding lambs as Christmas gift since a grocery chain store in Edinburgh creating quite a ripple by decorating their window display in a unconventional fashion to interpret the ‘Twelve Days Of Christmas’ song.
Shoppers were in for a shock to see the scenery at the shop’s display with the traditional eight maids of the song breastfeeding lambs.
The strange photographs have been displayed on the window of the Peckham’s delicatessen (delicacies), in the Bruntsfield area of Edinburgh.
Shoppers could also find moving dolls and live animals at the festive window.
However, it is the eight maids a-milking that has successfully attracted the attention of the users.
Titled as ‘‘The Hendrick’s 13th Day of Christmas’, the display has been created by Scottish gin company Hendrick’s.
“We wanted to do something about the 12 days of Christmas and Hendrick’s always likes to do things in as unusual a way as possible,”David Piper, curator and Hendrick’s ‘commander of special operations,” was quoted as saying to Deadline News.
While the display was taken in stride by some, others called it revolting.
The strange sight will be removed at the New Year.
It may be mentioned that the reference of the maids a-milking is found in the song The Twelve Days of Christmas.
