New-Delhi, Jan 17 2011 (Calcutta tube): After Lok Sabha Channel, the next government runs television may be a 24×7 channel “Gyan darshan”. Many departments, including NCERT, IGNOU and National Institute of Open Schools, have been roped in to air the channel, which will be dedicated for school education.
While NCERT will be the nodal agency, IGNOU‘s Electronic Media Production Centre will handle the unlinking. Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), an NCERT unit, will submit the program plan for the first three months to the ministry. Currently, Gyan Darshan channel beams programs
[ReviewAZON asin=”B000MJFQWG” display=”inlinepost”]At present, programs based on education which are created by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) are run only a couple of hours every day under the head Of “Gyan Darshan”.It has been learnt that Ministry of Broadcasting and Information will soon be approached to make this channel available on Direct to Home (DTH) networks.
According to the reports this new channel will focus on the school education and open learning. One of the Officials from NCERT told Agence India Press that “The upcoming channel is expected to be highly instrumental in the process of training the teachers”
The CIET and NIOS have proposed an estimated expenditure of Rs 6.3 crore and non-recurring expenditure of about Rs 86 lakh for making the channel operational.
