Delhi Metro Service delayed due to technical snag

New Delhi January 10, 2011 (CalcuttaTube): Metro passengers once again had a difficult time today, when the trains were delayed on the Noida Line due to a technical snag. Track Circuit failure on the Huda City Line also affected the Delhi metro services leading to chaos at many stations.

The whole train services on the Dwarika –Noida/Anand Vihar Were affected in the early morning after a train faced a technical glitch. The trains on the Gurgoan Line also were run at snail speed due to a circuit failure.

A Delhi metro Rail Corporation Spokesperson while talking to Agence India Press said “The train which was moving towards Dwarka developed a technical problem near Kirti Nagar Metro station at around 8.30 AM. The same metro was immediately taken to a near-by depot, he added.

He maintained that this whole exercise took around 20-25 minutes, and normalcy was returned almost immediately.  He also said that due to the track circuit failure near the INA Metro Station metro was running late On the Huda centres Line.

One of the commuter Rajni Arora talking to Agence India Press said, “It took me 25 minutes to reach from the Kashmiri gate To Rajiv Chowk station .Many passengers also alleged that trains on the line were running late till 12 PM.

Reports also said several busy stations had to be shut down due to overcrowding.

Meanwhile, Stations like Anand Vihar, Laxmi Nagar and Dwarka were crowded with passengers standing on the platform waiting for trains to come. Stations like Chandni Chowk, Kashmiri Gate, and Rajiv Chowk on the Gurgaon Line were also crowded with hundreds of passengers. (AIP)
