New Delhi, Nov 4 (IANS) Delhi and the Chinese capital of Beijing will cooperate in tourism and social security sectors, officials said Thursday.
This was decided when a nine-member Chinese delegation led by Beijing Vice-Mayor Ding Xiangyang Thursday met Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit separately.
Welcoming the delegates at Raj Bhavan, Khanna said that peace between the two countries was a must for enjoying the fruits of progress, noting that India and China had several common bonds that required to be strengthened.
‘Difference of opinion can be there between two friends, but it was important to proceed ahead in a proper manner discussing issues and resolving them,’ he added.
The delegation is on a three-day visit to the national capital.
Dikshit apprised the delegation about Delhi’s social structure and administrative set up besides her government’s efforts to uplift the poor.
