New Delhi, Feb 19 (Calcutta Tube) The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here has been ranked the fourth best in the world in the 15-25 million passengers per annum category by the Airport Council International (ACI).
The council, an international association of the world’s airports, has also ranked the IGIA as the Best Improved Airport in the Asia Pacific region, its developer, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), said.
The ACI has ranked the Hyderabad International Airport among the top five in the five to 15 million passenger capacity category.
Both airports have recieved the AIC’s annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards.
The Delhi and Hyderabad airports are being developed and operated by global infrastructure major GMR Group.
‘This rating has vindicated our persistent efforts and going further, with the impending inauguration of the state of the art Terminal 3 in July this year – IGIa will surely achieve its dream,’ GMR Group chairman G.M Rao said.
ACI, has 575 members operating over 1633 airports in 179 countries. The airports are rated on 34 parameters under 10 broad categories, including key regulatory and facilitating agencies like customs, immigration, security, airlines and ground handlers.
