September 28, 2010, KOLKATA (Calcutta Tube): Deepayan Chakraboty, a 26-year pass out National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Chennai batch of 2007, started his career as an assistant designer with Ranna Gill in Delhi. Coming back to kolkata launched his label ‘Rebirth by deepayan Chakraborty’ with Kiranjeet Kaur and Amit Tiwari at the fashion store, ‘Fashion Fields‘. He speaks to IBNS on his new collection for the forthcoming Durga Puja.
This puja I am gifting a collection to the Calcuttans that has taken its inspiration solely from ‘Durga pratima’ and her decorations. The collection comprises of dresses, tunics, salwar suits, and tops. The color scheme is focused on white. Lavender, orange, turquoise, hot pink, and lilac sets the accent color palette. Embroidery is completely inspired from ‘Daker Saaj’ decoration. Fabric on fabric relief embroidery is the focus. Usage of leather and Swarovski add some glitter suitable for going pandal hopping during the puja evenings.
