Feb 3, 2010 (Calcutta Tube): Cochin Haneefa (59), renowned director-actor, passed away at Chennai’s Ramchandra Hospital, where he was admitted after he suffered from a liver problem following a heart attack last morning.
While he started his acting career with negative roles, Cochin Haneefa then went on to do comedy and is still remembered as one of the finest comedians in Malayalam films. He has done over 300 films in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi.
As a director, he directed ‘Bheeshmacharya’, ‘Veena Meetiya Vilangukal’, ‘Aankiliyude Tharattu’, ‘Oru Sindoora Pottinte Ormakku’, ‘Moonnu Masangalkku Munpu’, all Malayalam films.
