Charu Unspoken-First Look-Manisha Koirala as Charu
Charu Unspoken is a modern adaptation of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s 1901 story “Noshtonir” (Broken Nest) and inspired by Oscar Winning film maestro Satyajit Ray’s 1964 classic “Charulata” (not-a-remake). The movie is directed by Amitabha Neil Ray. Check ou the FIRST LOOK into the Charu: Unspoken.

Being produced by Maneesh Malhotra (Toronto) – who recently made a movie English Butler Masala Chai. Shooting is scheduled to start from January 02, 2010 in Toronto, Canada. It is based on modern adaptation to Rabindranath Tagore’s 1901 short story ‘Nostonir’.

Introduction: This is a tale of three fine individuals, Charu, Anupam and Aakash, and their unspoken relationships (not a love triangle) – a story of sensitivity, goodness and also betrayal from someone very near to heart; an artistic but human film. The backdrop of the film is 2009 New York City.

Synopsis
Chandana Roy (Charu), a young, beautiful and newly married wife of a financial executive Anupam, lives a lonely life in a palatial home in the suburb of New York. She has arrived recently to USA and misses her  family and home back in India (Kolkata). Anupam tries his best to make her happy but the long hours in the house becomes a major burden for Charu. Anupam hires Nikhil (Charu’s distant cousin) in his corporation  and arranges for Nikhil and his wife Madhu to move to New York such that Charu can have some company of her family.

In the mean time, Aakash, a distant cousin of Anupam, comes to New York to break into an acting career and stays with Anupam and Charu at the insistence of Anupam. Aakash brings to light a new world of  creativity that was completely unknown to Charu. She never knew that the city she lives in was so vibrant, so alive with abundant creative energy. Aakash’s passion for the performing arts inspires Charu to bring out  her latent talent in acting which develops into a subtle form of rivalry as well as mutual admiration. But this admiration for Aakash soon evolves to a deep love that even Charu could never have apprehended.

When Aakash discovers this, he is shocked and fails to comprehend as to how he should react. Nikhil, meanwhile crafts a different plan to make a quick buck at the expense of Anupam’s goodwill and  trust. He steals some company secrets and sells them to competition and vanishes from the city. Anupam is held accountable by his company for this act of espionage and is suspended from his job with the possibility  of criminal prosecution. Anupam is devastated to be betrayed by someone whom he confided in as a friend and family.

Aakash feels guilty, feels that he too has betrayed the trust that Anupam had placed on him. One morning, he leaves Anupam and Charu’s house without any notice. Anupam is surprised, but when he discovers Charu  crying in Aakash’s room with his photograph in hand he is shocked again. In that fleeting moment he realizes that he has been betrayed again, he has lost his love too – he has lost Charu. He leaves his house and  wanders through the city in total desperation. Later at night, Anupam returns home and extends his arm of reconciliation towards Charu with the hope to get back his love. Charu too, extends her hand towards  Anupam, but they never meet. The frame freezes with a permanent chasm being created between Anupam and Charu.
