CBI arrests Eastern Railway manager for bribary

Kolkata, Aug 17 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Chief Commercial Manager (Passenger Services), Eastern Railway, Kolkata for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant.

The officer belongs to 1983 batch of IRTS.

The complainant alleged in his complaint that the accused has demanded a bribe of Rs.2,00,000 from him to renew railway travel agents liscense.

The accused further reduced the demand of bribe and agreed to accept Rs.50,000 as first installment.

CBI registered a case and laid a trap, said a top official on Thursday.

The accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the undergarment of the accused. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused.

The accused was produced before the designated court and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
