Surya Sakkhi was presented by Manjir Films. This is another good movie by Uttam Kumar at late age. The legendary bengali Lyricist Gouriprasanna Majumdar wrote the original story of the movie. Uttam Kumar looked old. Mohua roy Chowdhury looked really cute and beautiful! The movie is again directed by Agradoot. Just yesterday, I wrote an article about Agradoot and their dedication to Uttam Kumar. We have awesome music direction by Prabir Majumdar and we also have some beautiful songs by Manna Dey and Arati Mukherjee.

Trijama, featuring the greatest couple in Bengali Film Industry - “Uttam-Suchitra” was presented by Sunrise Films. This film was directed by famous “Agradoot”. I can’t recall any “bad” movies by Agradoot. Agradoot also produced many movies featuring Uttam Kumar. They always chose Uttam Kumar is the leading actors while changing the actress. However they were most successful in movies feauring “Uttam- Suchitra” such as “Pathe Holo Deri”, “Bipasha”, “Agni Pariksha”, they also directed all time blockbuster bengali comedy like “Chadmabeshi” and “Nayika sangbad.

Many of you may be unaware about a superb fact about Uttam Kumar. He was not only an actor, he was a great musician. He loved to sing Rabindra sangeet. Before doing any song in movies, he used to play and sing himself with a harmonium. He was a great harmonium player too. I have posted one song by Uttam Kumar long time back in our music blog. Uttam Kumar is not only the Hero of Kal Tumi Aleya, he is also the “music director” of the film. The films is based on a novel by renowned writer Asutosh Mukherjee and directed by Sachin Mukherjee. This film bring the great triple “Uttam - Supriya- Sabitri” together again. A Nice film for all. And after a long break, another great Uttam Kumar Movie.

Well this one is a different movie and unfortunately does not have a listing on IMDB (Internet Movie Data Base). This is a late 70s movies directed by Ajit Ganguly who made “Rater Rajanigandha” with Uttam Kumar in 1973. My favorite Anil Chatterjee and Sabitri are omnipresent in this movie and I am sure you would love this one.

Review: This movie is all about the relationship between Sabitri and her father in law Chhabi Biswas. Chabi Biswas always wanted to have a fair skinned lady for his elder son Basanta Chowdhury. Due to some unavoidable situation created by Bikash Roy, Basanta Chowdhury had to marry Sabitri irrespective of her dark skin color. Chhabi Biswas was very unhappy to see the Sabitri. Sabitri, however, with her numerous good skils soon able to win the heart of her father in law. Unfortunately she was illiterate. When Basanta Chowdhury came to know about the fact, she left Sabitri and went abroad. Sabitri started learning from Biswajeet and Sandhya Roy (Her Sister). Bhanu Banerjee Played the role of elder brother of Sabitri. The chemistry between Sandhya Roy and Biswajeet is classic. Pahari Sanyal is cool as always and played a small role of family doctor. A great movie for all.
