Picture: Jishu Sengupta - Passionate Actor of Tollywood Kolkata
In 1972, there was a Bengali Movie “Janatar Adalat” made by Madhukar. Now it is time for “Director/Music Director/Lyricist/Producer” Manoj Thakur to make a film with the same brand name. Manoj Thakur has been a well known lyricist in Tollywood for his work in ” Janam Janamer Sathi”, “Phool aar Pathor”, “Mahasatisabitri” and more. His first film as a director, Janatar Adalat was done two years back and releasing in Calcutta today (June 20th, 2008).
This again proves that we probably still do not have enough movie halls that are willing to release Bengali films simply due to less profit by releasing Bengali films. Sometimes there are other issues associated with a late release but we definitely need more movie halls dedicated to release Bengali films in Calcutta. This is the time when after a long time-gap, people are going back to movie halls to watch Bengali Films. Now, even the Bengali Film producers are spending huge money on Bengali Films which is reflected by much improvement in camera, picture quality, sound effects, animations and so on.
The movie starts Jishu Sengupta, Indrani Dutta, Sabyasachi Chakrabarty, Dulal Lahidi and more. The story is based on “unemployment” condition in Calcutta. There are five young people without a job and they start their fight against a corrupt MLA - Dulal Lahidi. While the story seems heard numerous times, I will still recommend the film simply because Jishu Sengupta. He is a very passionate actor with a great sense of humor.
The film was completely shot in Howrah, Calcutta and Baruipur.

Goalmaal (2008) -Swapan Saha Comedy
Direction: Swapan Saha
Releasing on: June 6 th in Calcutta
Casts: Prasenjit, Jishu Sengupta, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Priyanka Trivedi, Varsha Priyadarshini, Namrata and more.
Produced by:T Sarkar Productions
Swapan Saha has been directing and relesing too many films these days. Just few months back we had “JOR” starring Jeet, “JANMADATA” starring Jishu Sengupta and Razzak, “AMAR PRATIGGYA” starring Priyanshu and Priyanka Tribedi, and now we have “GOALMAAL“.
Well there must have been some “goalmaal” somewhere as the “comedy” film Goalmaal looked liked an action film and not doing any good at any movie halls. It is supposed to be a comedy of errors where everybody loves someone who loves somebody else!! Prasanjit and Tota are brothers of Barsha. Jishu Sengupta Fell in love with Barsha. Tota them fell in love with Namrata who fell in love with Prasenjit! Well it is too complex to explain! I love Priyanka Tribedi too much. She is the only reason I could watch the movie ONCE.
It is reported to be a “remake” of Telegu film “Hanuman Junction“!!
Please write us a review if you have watched the film.
Premer Kahini (2008): Deb-Koyel Mullick Bengali Blockbuster

Direction: Ravi Kinagi
Casts: Deb, Koyel, Ranjit Mullick, Jishu Sengupta, Mousumi Saha, Diganta
Music Direction: Jit Ganguly
Ravi Kinagi. You may not know the name. Specially if you are one of those people who have lost their hope in Bengali Films. Ravi Kinagi also does not have a profile on Internet Movie Database (IMDB). However, he is one of the most prominent director in Bengali Cinema these days who can bring people to the movie halls. He does not do films that we call “intellectual” however he makes commertial films and the does a very good job. His stories are most of the time a mixture of nultiple Hindi films but blended extremely nicely in Bengali perspective. His latest film “Premer Kahini” is another very successful film by him. It did so well in Calcutta that most of the cinema halls were house-ful for several weeks.
Akash (Deb) and Barsha (Koyel Mullick) met just by mere accident. Deb fell in love with Koyel Mullick instantly. However he lost contact with Koyel and could not track her address by any means. He was visiting a marriage ceremony of the doughter of his mom’s friend and to his surprize, he found the bride was Koyel Mullick herself. Now I am sure you can image the scene in “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and so on. After that there are some good emotional drama followed by a happy ending.
Jishu Sengupta was seen for a short period and came to sacrifice Koyel to Deb. Ranjit Mullick is simply excellent as he is in any other Bengali movies. Jit Ganguly did a nice job with music direction too. The film has very good cinematography and it should be a very enjoyable film for your family to watch together.
This film also means a lot for Deb. There is only only ONE actor who has firmed his place as “hero” in Tollywood after Prosenjit. That is Jeet. Recently there are some more bengali heroes coming up in Tollywood. Deb is now a common face to all due to the huge success of “Premer Kahini”. He is now even getting offers to do item songs in other movies too (a trend from Bollywood)! Please write your own review of the film if you have watched it! Thank You in advance.

Calcutta Tube Review!
“Tantu Mere Santu Kore Debo” - Mithunda told someone!
Chore Chore Mastuto Bhai is 100% copy of Victoria No. 203 , a hindi movie released in 1972. So, this proved again that our Kolkata Tollywood Movie industry is at least 30 years behind Bollywood Movies. 100% duplicate story where Jishu Sengupta represents “Navin Nischal”, Mithun Chakrabarty and Chiranjeet Chakrabarty represnt Ashok Kumar and Pran, Koyel Mullick represents Saira Banu. Only difference is the hiding place of diamonds. Chore Chore Mastuto Bhai used a “TAXI” instead of an Victoria. Overall, a comedy type movie. Jishu did a good job as well as Koyel Mullick. Koyel is really sweet girl and looked hot in some dance scenes.
A good one for all Mithunda Fans!
