Short Review:
Hello Kolkata is a film that tries to narrate some of the social problems in Kolkata. The debut film by Manoj Michigan portray hope for better tomorrow in this film after a gloomy yesterday. The films revolves around lives of four couples with different level of stress.

  1. Raima (Swastika Mukherjee) is too stressed with her once loving husband Pratik (Amitabha Bhattacharya) who has become a poor alcoholic and abuses his wife often both physically and mentally
  2. Sheila (Sheelekha Mitra) is married to Partha (Sudip Mukherjee) but they have a blank space in their life - she could not conceive a child.

Presented by: Kamakkhya Films 2000
Playback Singers: Kumar Shanu, Shreya Ghoshal, Alka Yagnik, Anik Dhar, Sumedha and Madhuchhanda
Cinematographer: Niranjan Das
Editing: Atish De Sarkar

Running in:
Darpana, Bharati, Mahua, Ellora (Behala), Chetna (Dum Dum), Narayani (Alambazar), Krishna (Baruipur), Shanti (Kadamtolla), Geetasree (Rajarhat), New Bijoli (Diamond Harbour), Kairi (Chinsurah), Kalika (Habra), Amtala Tks, Amala (Barrackpore), Swapna (Andul), Udayan (Sheoraphuli), Sangeeta (Krishnagar).

Outline:

“Kolkatai Guru, Mahaguru Sobee ami” - says Prosenjit.
“Chottobelay Suru, Joubone Guru, Apnar Kache Maha Guru” - something close to this was a dislogue by Mithun Chakraborty in the film “Mahaguru”.

Tollywood is flooded with Prosenjit Films this year and some of them are good such as Khela but most of them are trashy films just like Shibaji. Well, Prosenjit is still considered the Hero No. 1 in Calcutta but our recent poll maked Mithun Chakraborty the best choice as a hero and Jeet competing well with Mithunda. Prosenjit is not even close to Jeet at all! But “Rakhe Hori Mare Ke”!

Shibaji is of course Prosenjit whose wife is raped and daughter killed. So, he becomes infamous and start his revenge with dark eye-glass and black shoes! Tapal Pal as a police officer looked better. He actually rapes and kills Prosenjit’s wife! . Shatabdi Roy paid some attention to her character. Ranjit Mullick was as good as before in his small role as a judge.
Shatabdi Roy paid some attention to her charector. Ranjit Mullick was as good as before in his small role as a judge.

Shibaji has nothing to offer other than violence and sex. It is a total waste of time. Also the film is full of item songs with ridiculous lyrics.

If you are not going to watch the film, you will not miss anything.

Attraction: Rachana Benerjee + Swastika Mukherjee.

Outline: Swastika and Rachana are sisters and belog to a Jamindar Family. There is no special story in this film. After the death of Jamindar Chowdhury, Mama (Manoj Mitra)-MamiĀ  want to deprive everybody for property. And then the usual melodrama!

We saw Rachana - Swastika last time probably in the movie “Criminal (2005)” directed by Shankar Roy where Prosenjit was the lead hero. Locket was too hot in this film specially in the swimming pool scenes where she dropped her cloths one by one! We hope to see some nice chemistry between Rachana and Swastika in this film and hopefully will be a good film to watch.

Partnet (2008):Jeet-Swastika

Jeet and Swastika Couple is back after some time in Partner. The action-romance packed Bengali movie released in Calcutta on 1st August. Jeet is still considered as the Hero No. 2 in Tollywood and the film is still bringing some crowd to the movie halls. There was not much pre-release hype for the movie and not too much of reviews and previews seen online. Still, Jeet is the smartest actor in recent time and Partner would be a must watch film for for Jeet and Swastika fans.
