Many of you may be unaware about a superb fact about Uttam Kumar. He was not only an actor, he was a great musician. He loved to sing Rabindra sangeet. Before doing any song in movies, he used to play and sing himself with a harmonium. He was a great harmonium player too. I have posted one song by Uttam Kumar long time back in our music blog. Visit the link to listen to a song by Uttam Kumar Himself. You can listen to the song “Ei Mon Jochonai Ongo Bhijiye, Eso Na Golpo Kori” by Uttam Himself.

Uttam Kumar is not only the Hero of Kal Tumi Aleya, he is also the “music director” of the film. The films is based on a novel by renowned writer Asutosh Mukherjee and directed by Sachin Mukherjee. This film bring the great triple “Uttam - Supriya- Sabitri” together again. A Nice film for all. And after a long break, another great Uttam Kumar Movie.

Job Charnoker Bibi (1978) Soumitra Chatterjee Documentary Bangla Movie

Lyric: Sudhin Dasgupta
Playback Singers: Asha Bhosle, Sumita Mukherjee, Gouri Shrimati, .

300 hundred years back, the employee of East India Company Job Charnok, established our beloved city Calcutta (Kolkata). He fell in love with a hindu red-light zone worker (potita)! He stopped “sati daha” of a poor bramhin even in that old period and finally married that widow. He loved India so much that he never went back to his own country. This movie was dedicated to the first hero of Calcutta.

This movie was the first production of “Anirban Pictures”.

Soumitra Chatterjee plays the role of Jab Charnak. Well, I am going to judge this film as it is sort of a documentary. I hope that you all enjoy the movie.

Surer Sathi (1989) Tapas Pal-Debashree Roy-Romantic Bangla Movie

Surer Sathi (1989) Tapas Pal-Debashree Roy-Romantic Bangla Movie
Direction: Tapan Saha
Story: Shatadal (Script: Shanti Ghosh Dastidar)
Music Direction: Hemanta Mukherjee
Lyric: Gouri Prasanna Majumdar, Pulak Banerjee
Playback Singers: Hemanta Mukherjee, Arati Mukherjee, Haimanti Sukla, Arundhati HomeChowdhury, Shantanu Bhattacharya, Bitu Samajpati.
Cast:Tapas Pal, Debashree Roy, Anil Chatterjee, Subhendu Chatterjee, Tarun Kumar Chatterjee, Nirmal Kumar, Madhabi Chakrabarty, Lili Chakrabarty, Kajal Gupta, Shakuntala Barua, Reena Sinha, Sunetra Bhattacharya, Santu Mukherjee and more…..

This move was produced by “Bhaswati Chitram”.
Tapas Pal is again in another romantic film with the “chocolate hero” image. Tapas Pal Debashree made numerous super hit Bengali movies and some of them are really very good. Well, in this movie Tapal Pal is the singer boy and Debashree simply loves his voice. Madhabi is the dear mother of Tapas Pal (Sanjay in the film). In course of time she comes to Tapas Pal to take music lessons. She eventually fell in love with Tapas Pal. The drama started when Debashree’s parents came to know about the romance!

“Taka diye bari gari sompotti kena jai, karo mon kena jai na!” - Said Tapas Pal to Anil Chatterjee! Well there are more personalities like “Painter” Subhendu chatterjee, the modern “bilet ferot” lad, Tarun Kumar (looked fat).

You know how Bengali melodramas are. Tapas Pal lost his eye-sight after an accident and Debashree was told that tapas Pas was no more. She came to know about the existence of Tapas Pal near the end of the movie. So, to make a very happy end, Tapas Back got his vision back.

Well, I am too big fan of Tapas Pal but I simply admire Debashree Roy. Great music direction by Hemanta Mukherjee also added some positive side to this movie however I think those songs could have been much better. A Good Movie to watch with family and friends.
Note: I am to too sure about the year of release of the film. But it should be pretty close to 85.

Arun Barun O Kiranmala. Well I am Glad to post this movie here as this one one of the very few bengali movie made for the children. In recent time I liked Patalghar apart from the Feluda series. Patalghar is posted before. Just search to find it. Now, getting back to Arun Barun O Kiranmala, it is a “Rupkatha” or “fairy Tale”. You ,may have read it in Thakumar Jhuli or some other similar Children Classic books. Usually there are many versions of the story where the King marries two queens (at least, some times more). One of the queen comes out to be good while another one as bad. Here the “Choto Rani” would be the “Rakkhusi” and she is eating up all people in the beautiful country. The king got two sons from each queen - Arun and Barun and he also got a doughter. Arun Barun and Kiranmala love each other very much and someday Arun and Barun go out for a difficult task by which they are able to kill the bad queen later.

The movie is old but still got some primitive colors. Direction is good compared to the time period of the movie. Very few special effects are there. However you will be able to watch the same good old story and your little one would enjoy the movie very much. We also have some nice songs by Hemanta Mukherjee , Sandhya and Arati in this movie.

Keep adding your replies and review the movie for us please.
