Bournvita Quiz Contest back on air from Aug 14

Mumbai, Aug 1 (Calcutta tueb / IBNS) After four years, Bournvita Quiz Contest (BQC); a much-anticipated quiz show, will return once again; this time on India’s leading General Entertainment Channel (GEC) Colors. The show is scheduled to go on air on Aug 14.

Bournvita Quiz Contest will be back on air because of a hugely popular online movement on Facebook  and various blog sites, wherein people expressed their support for BQC.

The movement on Facebook populated 160,000 fans in a short span of 4 months with users posting one-liners like ‘Don’t be Stupid, Bring BQC Back’ which were then converted into banners and badges on the page.

An overwhelming sense of nostalgia is immediately associated with BQC and its popular host – Derek O’Brien.

The format of the show has been realigned to showcase some interesting and exciting twists. The current format is a blend of entertainment/ education and has evolved with the tastes of the consumer.

“We are excited with the exceptional response received on Facebook to bring back BQC.” said Narayan Sundararaman, Director for Powdered Beverages, Gum & Candy, Cadbury India.

For the first season, Bournvita Quiz contest offers enthusiasts a chance to feature on the show as part of the “main bhi quizmaster” segment.

People are invited to post their videos on the YouTube channel One lucky winner per show will get a chance to be a guest quiz-master and ask participants one question on the show.

The Cadbury Bournvita Quiz Contest started out in 1972 as a live quiz show that was held in cities across India and has since been the country’s longest running quiz show. It then moved to being a radio show, before being picked up by channels in the ’90s such as Zee TV and Sony respectively.

The original hosts of the live show were Hamid Sayani and later, his brother Ameen Sayani. But BQC’s most popular host has been Derek O’Brien, who has since authored several quiz books as well.
