Panaji, Nov 25 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) Indian Classical Music is gaining influence, said noted vocalist Pandit Rajan Mishra at International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here on Friday.
“Indian Classical Music is gaining in influence and the audiences are flocking back to the theatres to listen to good music. Indian music is impacting other arts and I foresee better times ahead,” Mishra said addressing a press conference at the Media Centre here.
Mishra is featured in a documentary ‘Adwait Sangeet’ that tries to capture the life of two living legends – Pt. Rajan Mishra and Pt. Sajan Mishra -and relive their personal and musical journey.
The two brothers from the Benaras Gharana are considered to be living legends of Indian Classical Music.
They are the rare vocalists who have been singing together for the last 40 years.
Makarand Brahme, the film director said that his documentary tries to give a strong social message on Indian cultural tradition, family values and its continuing relevance. He said that the brothers contributed to the making of the documentary through their inimitable presence and style.
The film was shot across Delhi, Dehradun and Banaras and shows how the brothers coped with the changing times and stayed steadfast in their values and traditions.
