Bollywood News: Goan debut in IFFI short films category

Panaji, Nov 24 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) A short film ‘Save the Girl Child’ is a Goan debut in the Short Film Competition Section at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2011.

 

Directed by Sunil Naik, the four-minute movie is about how people everywhere are paying to know the sex of an unborn child and paying more to abort the female child.

 

The movie, which will be screened on November 27, seeks an answer whether this will bring an end to the human race.

 

Save the Girl Child will feature among other films from different countries like Khule Darwaaze (Open Doors), Raag Sarkari (bureaucracy sonata), Crazy Beats Strong Every time among others.

 

The eight day Short Film Center which is a business market for short film makers was opened today by veteran actress Madhuri Dixit.

 

The Jury for the International Competition section is Basu Chatterji, Fiona Lawson-Baker, Yann Piquer and Giogio Franchini, and Jury Sivan, Krishnendu Bose and Alka Tomar for the Vasudha Award Competition section.
