Kolkata, Dec 1 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Bolepur Bluez of India’s Got Talent fame launched its maiden album ‘Soul Connection’ at Music World here on Thursday.
Bolepur Bluez claims to be the first baul-rock band in India.
The band says it is a unique fusion of traditional baul songs and western music and also has a touch of Blues, Latin and Rock.
Sidhu and Pota of popular Bangla band ‘Cactus’ were also present at the event.
Vocalist Sidhu said, “The selection of the songs is very intelligent.”
Bolepur Bluez drummer Kunal Kundu said, “Our main vision is to popuralise baul music to the young masses. We have not distorted baul songs but inputted elements to fill it up.”
On talking about the naming of the album ‘Soul Connection’, he said, “It is a fusion of baul and blues and both has a connection. It is the connection between soul from east and west.”
The album has been recorded and mixed by Subhajit Mukherjee, lead vocalist of Bangla band ‘Lakhhichhara.’
There are seven folk songs in the album, sung by baul singer Kartick baul.
‘Soul Connection’ has been released by leading music company EMI.
The “Bolepur Bluez” also gave an unplugged performance at the occasion.
