Lucknow, June 20 (Calcutta Tube) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday condemned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for returning Rs.5 crore aid money to Gujarat, saying it shows ‘narrow-mindedness and petty politics’.
‘It is unfortunate. Nitish Kumar should accept his mistake,’ senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra told reporters here.
He said by returning the aid money that Gujarat had given to Bihar for flood relief, Nitish Kumar had not only hurt the sentiments of the people in Bihar but also all Indians.
‘If Nitish Kumar wanted to appease the minority community, he should have come forward and spoken over the Bhopal gas tragedy as 70 percent of the victims there were from the minority community,’ Mishra said.
The Nitish Kumar decision was a reaction to advertisements in Bihar papers lauding the Narendra Modi government’s contribution to the flood victims. The advertisements were carried to mark the BJP National Executive meet in Patna.
