Kolkata, Sept 9 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) Birla Industrial and Technical Museum (BITM), Kolkata has launched a special facilitation scheme for educational visit to the Museum including to and fro transport facility for the students belonging to underprivileged sections of the society.
The programme, with the primary objective of spreading science awareness among the general mass, began with the visit of about 300 students of Jagatpur Rukmini Vidyamandir for Girls, Behala to BITM.
The school was first to avail of this opportunity partially supported by Sarala Birla Birla who amongst others today welcomed the students on their arrival.
Sk. E. Islam, Director, BITM was also present.
Birla spent some time with the students, talked to them and encouraged them for such visits in future also.
Islam has requested all concerned particularly the educational institutions serving the underprivileged section of the society to avail the opportunity. For this, the Museum authorities have to be contacted at list seven days in advance, he said.
Islam said he is hopeful that BITM would be able to extend the benefit to a large section of the marginalized student community of Kolkata and its neighborhood areas.
