Prosenjit unveils first look of Bikram Singha

Kolkata, Apr 11 (IBNS): Tollywood actor Prosenjit Chatterjee unveiled the first look of his upcoming movie ‘Bikram Singha – The Lion is Back’ before a crowd of over 500 people on Tuesday at Big Bazaar, Sealdah here.

His entry was a dramatized one- he entered the stage after crossing the door of a prison.

Addressing excited fans, Prosenjit said: “Bikram Singha is one of my biggest movies and I did a lot of fighting sequences in this movie.”

“I am enacting double characters in the movie; one is that of an IPS officer and another is of a thief named Gupi. Gupi is such a person who can do anything for money,” he said.

Director Rajib Biswas was also present at the event along with lead actress Richa Ganguly and Shree Pritam who scored music for the movie.

Richa, who is an established actor in the South, said: “I studied in U.S. and did movies in the South. But at the end of the day I am a Bengali and I always wanted to do a Bengali film. So it was an absolute dream that I got the opportunity to be cast opposite such a big star (Prosenjit).”

Speaking about the movie, Rajib said: “The story mainly revolves around a father and his kid. It’s a highly emotional film with action sequences. The action part has focused on IPS officer Bikram while the emotion has been focused more on Gupi the thief.”

Talking about the reason for zeroing in on Richa for the lead actress, Rajib said:  “I wanted someone whom audiences never saw opposite Bumbada (Prosenjit) before, but made sure she had to be Bengali from wherever she is.”

There are six songs in the movie including one item number by singer Mamata with lyrics by Bappi Lahiri.

The other singers who lent their voices to the songs include Kumar Sanu,  Alka Yagnik, Shaan, Mahalaxmi and Saberi.

The movie will hit the silver screen on May 18.
