Kolkata, Sept 5 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) Star Jalsha, a leading Bengali General Entertainment Channel (GEC) in West Bengal has clocked a massive 505 GRPs (Gross Rating Points) for the week August 21-27.
As per the Bengali GE Ratings Report for Week 35 – 2011, the Channel has outperformed the other Bengali channels in the category like Zee Bangla (381 GRPs’), ETV Bangla (156 GRPs)’, Sananda TV (46 GRPs’), Ruposhi Bangla (44 GRPs’) and Mahua Bangla (19 GRPs’).
Star Jalsha said it stands out as a clear winner even in each of the individual day parts as well and races far ahead its nearest competitors Zee Bangla and ETV Bangla.
The Channel further strengthened its position when its newly launched Sansaar Sukher Hoy Ramonir Gune registered 50 GRPs, which is higher than the total GRPs’ of most of the Bengali GEC players.
Additionally this show has acquired an average television rating points (TRP) of 8.3, the highest ever launch week figure in fiction shows, leaving behind all other television shows at the time band of 9:30 pm-10:00 pm.

The leading prime time fiction offerings by the channel, Maa, Sindoor Khela and Aparajito remain at the top of the charts in TVRs’ registering 9.1, 6.4 and 5.0 for week 35 respectively.
On 21st August, observing the curtain fall of one of its most loved and popular fictional offering ‘Behula’ achieved an astounding feat, when the show clocked a TRP of 13.0, a record for any viewed show in Kolkata television.
