Kolkata, Feb 13 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): The cast and crew of the upcoming Bengali movie “Maach, Misti and More” gathered at a mall in Kolkata to launch calender for the film promotions.
“Maach and Mishti…” (Fish and Sweets) which refers to two culinary items that stand synonymous with Bengalis, according its makers, has been directed by “Bedroom” director Mainak Bhoumik.
Talking about the Calendar lunch, the director said:” The purpose of launching the calendar is to have an everlasting place in our viewer’s homes rather heart.”
When questioned why he has chosen such a name for his movie he said:” Wherever there is any talk on Bengal, Maach and Mishti becomes a point of discussion, people relate us with these two elements. “
“I have tried to keep the essence of Bengal throughout my film so that in future it also becomes symbolic with Bengal,” he added.
Speaking about veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee with whom he has worked for the first time he said:”To me, it was a dream come true to have him in my film.”
“He may be the oldest person in the film but by heart he is the youngest of the lot,” said an excited Mainak.
Soumitra Chatterjee who is playing a happy-go-lucky character in the film said about his role:” “The character I am playing is the grandfather of the three male protagonists. He is vibrant, crazy and probably the liveliest person in the film and does not believe in the term of generation gap.”
“I am playing Reena who for some job related problems along with her husband returns to Kolkata and starts staying with her in-laws. But there she faces space problem,” said Swastika about her Character.
Apart from Soumitra Chatterjee, actors Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Swastika Mukherjee, Parno Mitra, Rachita Chauhan, Neha and Anubrata will be seen sharing screen space in the film.
Parno who has a guest appearance in the movie said that she is playing a college going tomboyish girl named Sunny.
Interestingly, to give a perfect tomboyish look to her character she has taken the help of Mainak’s clothes.
The producers also announced a contest to select a logo for the movie through twitter, Facebook, SMS or internet.
