: White and bright colours graced the fashion show as models sizzled the ramp in style wearing stylish designer outfits in the first day of the Kolkata Fashion and Design Week.
Tollywood actor Nusrat Jahan in a white attire walked for fashion designer Farheen Rahman as the showstopper in the fashion event that was organised by Pacific Entertainment Management and choreographed by model-turned-artist Pinky Kenworthy.
The designers who participated in the first day of Kolkata Fashion and Design Week were Farheen Rahman from Kolkata, Saurav Srivastav from Bhopal, Soham Chakraborty from Bangalore and Sumit Dasgupta from Mumbai.
Rahman who believes Kolkata models need more opportunities to walk in fashion shows said about her collection: “I have focused on White colour. The dresses are wearable and very comfortable. “
“White is my favourite colour so I thought lets experiment with this colour. Moreover, for summer season white is absolutely perfect,” she added.
Talking about Farheen’s collection, Nusrat said: “I think what she has showcased in the fashion show is absolutely perfect for the summer. She has used linen, hand loom and Georgette cloth. The cloths are very comfortable and one can easily step out of their house by wearing her collections.”
Another Tollywood actor Moubani Sarkar walked as showstopper for designer Saurav Srivastav.
Commenting on the designer collection, Saurav said: “The name of the theme is ‘Blossom of Monet’. Monet is the name of a late painter. My collections are inspired by this painter. He was one of the top artists and his painting has abstract effect.”
“The attires are made up of pure cotton combined with silk and flowers are embellished on them inspired by water lilies. I have focused on White, Pastel and bright colours,” added the designer.
Tollywood heartthrob Saheb Chatterjee sashayed down the ramp with perfect attitude for designer Soham Chakraborty whose collection experimented with splashy colours.
Models were seen in pink, red, green attires displaying Soham’s collection. They walked barefoot to complete the beach look.
Talking about the collection, Soham said: “My collection is full of colour and fun. They are crazy beach wear. “
Commenting on the designer’s collection, Saheb said: “He has used splashy colours which are very eye-catching. These kind of colourful attires are good for actors. They make you look attractive.”
“I was a bit nervous as I am not that into ramp. But yes I am ready to walk again. I did not even practice for it I just walked casually and tried to be confident. This is the second time I walked for Soham,” confessed the actor.
Clad in a gorgeous red and green combination lehenga Priyadarshini walked fashionably on the ramp for Sumit Dasgupta.
Mumbai-based Sumit who hails from Kolkata said about the city’s fashion: “The fashion in Kolkata has developed a lot but the western fashion needs to be improved more.”
Designer Soham too believes the same and said: “People outside Kolkata are more conscious. Here the fashion is good and is growing.”
The other models who sizzled the ramp were Pallavi, Debasmita, Suvanita, Priyasha, Nick, Iqbal, Shabbir, Ritesh and Jeet.
