Kolkata, Sept 9 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Remaac Filmz will be launching newcomer Puja through their film ‘Macho Mustafaa’. At the same time, the film production house promises to get a new avatar for Bengali film industry’s popular hero Hiraan.
The cast and crew of the film ‘Macho Mustafaa’ were introduced to the media at Hotel Hindustan International in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Apart from the lead pair-Puja and Hiraan, also present at the press meet was producer of the film PP Tiwary and director Reshmi Mitra.
Tiwary said there are new elements in the film which will make it stand out from the recent trends of Tollywood.
“Most of the recent Bengali movies is having the shadow of South Indian hit films and so I decided to give a break to this trend by adding new dimensions to the film,” said Tiwary.
“This film will also frame Hiraan into a new avatar and would turn the star into a superstar,” he said.
Hiraan, who made a dramatic entry on the stage riding a white Karizma bike and in a matching milk-white costume, also had a lot of praises for his producer.
Hiraan said, “Unlike other producers, P.P. Tiwary has deep involvement in the film and has always guided us in every matter.”
When asked about her character in the film, newcomer Puja said, “I play the role of an innocent and bubbly girl who transforms into different shades of character when she faces the reality after falling in love with a guy.”
Looking gorgeous in a yellow dress, the debutant revealed that she has almost finished shooting for two films-a Telegu and a Hindi- which are slated to be released later this year.
She said, “Being a Bengali, I feel a bit alien in the Telegu and Tamil films; instead it is quite comfortable for me doing Bengali movies.”
Reshmi Mitra, director of the film, said, “Puja has comfortably fitted in the shoes of her character which is of a patient but bubbly girl and I am very satisfied working with her.”
IBNS asked Puja that would she be happy playing a typical bubbly girl in her next films or would she like to experiment with other kind of roles.
Puja said, “I do not want to get stuck to a typed role but would surely like to go for different challenging roles as I want to prove myself as an versatile actress.”
Reshmi Mitra said some new techniques has been used in the film which has not been used in a Bengali film before.
Tiwary also announced that the film will target audience from urban areas to rural areas and even NRIs and the film will have a global release in about 26 countries on the same day making the premiere a world premiere, the first ever for a Bengali movie.
When IBNS asked the lead pair about their plans for Durga Puja, Puja said that she will go out with friends in Kolkata having ‘fuchkas’ and ‘velpuris’, while Hiraan revealed that he would be heading to his ancestral house in Uluberia and spend some quality time with his family.
