Kolkata, Aug 8 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS): Melody queen Asha Bhosle is all set to perform a live concert here at the Science City Auditorium on Saturday night. The 76-year-old singer is expected to perform some of the works of Bengali Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore for the programme.
On Saturday afternoon, hours before the concert, she tweeted, “Getting ready for Concert. Big responsibility. Have 2 live up to Rabindranath Tagore’s great compositions…” (sic).
Apparently Bhosle, who recently joined the likes of the Beatles, Michael Jackson and Rolling Stones in a new list of world’s top twenty music icons of the past 50 years by CNN, was very excited to come to Kolkata.
On July 29, she tweeted, “In Bengali mood today. Will make chingdi maloi kodi & fried elish mach for dinner. Going to the City of Joy on 5th aug. Can’t wait” (sic).
“I love everything about Bengal & Kolkatta. After all it’s my shoshur badi. My sasural,” (sic) she wrote.
She came to Kolkata on Thursday (August 5) and spent the day rehearsing and expressed her dilemma at choosing the songs.
“Deciding which songs to retain in the repertoire, which to discard is most difficult decision;since most of the rehearsed songs are wonderful,” she tweeted.
