Arijit Dutta expressed his gratitude to Databazaar for bringing in quality Bengali films to North America. “This is a great move. For some time now, we were having the average Bengali films, the remake types, only for the rural audience. But now there are good Bengali movies with cerebral sides that are targeted for the educated folks. This genre of films will now have an extended market in the North America. There have been some talks previously on promotions of Bengali films abroad. But it somehow never happened. I congratulate Databazaar Media Ventures for their initiative of bringing quality Bengali movies in the US and their concept of simultaneous release both in India and North America.”

Arijit, who has also acted in a cameo role in ‘Ekti Tarar Khonje’, requested the audience not to buy Bengali films illegally. “Till now, people used to get illegal copies of Bengali films. This simultaneous release would stop that. It is also the audience’s responsibility not to encourage piracy. Pirated films ruin the industry and the people who invest in films do not get anything out of the sales.”

Aniruddha Ray Chowdhury, the ace filmmaker of the Bengali film industry as well as Indian cinema said that he now feels assured as  never before to know that the market of non-commercial Bengali films are expanding overseas. “When I made ‘Anuranan’, ‘Antaheen’, people told me that my films will lose a major section of the audience which comes from the rural sections. Now I am so glad to know that filmmakers like us who make films of distinct tastes and genres will get audience abroad.”

The National award winning filmmaker, who is the producer of ‘Ekti Tarar Khonje’ thanked the Databazaar team on behalf of all filmmakers of Kolkata for their honest effort of promoting Bengali films in North America and the team of his production venture.
