Kolkata, Dec 18 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS): Kolkata witnessed a musical evening on Tuesday as popular musicians and actors performed at a theater as a part of the preview of Bengali movie ‘Aparajita Tumi’.
The musical preview of ‘Aparajita Tumi’, the next release of national award winning director Anirudhha Roy Choudhury, was held at Priya Cinema hall here on Tuesday.
‘Aparajita Tumi’ is based on a novel titled ‘Dui Naari Hate Tarabari’ penned by celebrated Bengali novelist Sunil Gangopadhyay.
“Whenever a filmmaker makes a movie based on any novel, it completely depends upon his imagination that how he will make the movie however the core story remains the same” said Gangopadhyay.
The movie deals with the conflicts between two couples living abroad. In the journey of life the characters get explored, each fighting their own battles to find peace and happiness in their lives – beyond right or wrong.
This would be the first Bengali film to be shot entirely in the United States.
The film stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Kamalini Mukherjee, Padmapriya, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Indraneil Sengupta, Kalyan Ray, Tanushree Shankar and Soumitra Chatterjee.
Talking about his character, Prosenjit said: “I play a very successful high-flying corporate head, who is happily married and shares good relation with his wife. But then the story takes a turn.”
The event also featured performances by music director Shantanu Moitra and playback singers Shreya Ghosal, Hamsika Iyer, Monali Thakur, Anindyo Chatterjee and Rupankar.
