Product Description

Enchantress and author, Ipsita Roy Chakraverti, an adept at both the western witchcraft tradition, as well as the Indian science of Dakini Vidya, presents nine true encounters, laced with the powers of light and darkness, that look beyond the limited reality of the manifest, to the finer realities of the soul and spirit. Based on real-life stories of people who, troubled by forces and events they cannot comprehend, have sought her out through her many years as a practicioner and scholar of the occult, these incidents - involving mystic-saints, necromancers, zombies, Tantrics, and restless spirits - are an analytical and lucid presentation of otherworldly phenomena. Through them, the author gives us a tantalizing glimpse of a deeper, darker, infinitely more complex, world. And gently mocks our limited perception of it.

Ipsita Roychakravarty's second book delves deep into the regular lives of mere mortals and their fantastic, if not rather terrifying experiences with the supernatural. Interestingly, most of the torturers of the human mind have some relevant religious standing in the Hindu religion. But knowing Ms. Chakravarty, doubting her words would be equally blasphemous. As A collection of short narratives , the book impresses the reader much beyond expectations. The plots traverses the wide expanses of bengal, delhi and puri. The casual reader with no faith in the supernatural would find the book to be a real treat. As far as the scholars and believers of the supernatural are concerned....they would be in a dillemma....if the sacred could have such devious qualities hidden in it....then who do you run to when evil strikes?
The book would run the chill down your spine ...a must read for all...make sure the sudden doorbell does'nt make you jump out of your skin.
Saying anything more would marr the charms of this work of art....suggestion, grab a copy and delve deep into the realms of the supernatural.Be scared!

I have read Ipsita's autobiography Beloved Witch and found it truly fascinating. Perhaps that was why I was so looking forward to her next book and grabbed it when I saw it on Amazon. The stories are unique and I must compliment her for giving the exceptionally clear and possibly rational explantions to the inexplicable at the end of each encounter. She has presented the cases and left it to the reader to judge. However, the perceptive reader will note the unknown factor hovering over the happenings the author has presented. She truly seems to be a mistress of magic and a subtle one. Maybe one should call her the Alfred Hitchcock of the east.
