Kolkata, Aug 30 (Calcutta Tube/IBNS) An alert driver on Monday averted a major train accident by using emergency brake when the Howrah bound down Rajdhani Express developed a technical snag outside Baruipur station in Hooghly district resulting in derailment of two wheels of the engine car.
Eastern Railway’s chief public relations officer Samir Goswami said there had been no injury or casualty. He said a relief train moved near the site, about 35 kms from Howrah station, to fetch the stranded passengers.
Driver Mahendra Singh, who held the wheels from Dhanbad staion, said, ” I used the emergency brake when a specific brake for wheel No 8 develop a snag resulting in derailment of the wheels of the engine car.”
