Panaji, Sept 12 (Calcutta Tube / IBNS) More than 900 Goa policemen along with Director General of Police Aditya Arya and senior officers watched the action packed blockbuster ‘Singham’ Sunday evening.
The movie, based on an honest cop ‘Bajirao Singham’ played by Ajay Devgn, was lauded by the policemen, most of whom came with their families to watch the movie.
[ReviewAZON asin=”B005EQJSWQ” display=”inlinepost”]In a bid to motivate his force which at present is mired in a series of controversies involving drug nexus, sexual abuse, corruption and political pressure, DGP Arya decided to hold the movie’s special screening.
The movie was screened in the 900-seater auditorium at Kala Academy while another screening would be held at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao for the South Goa police on Monday.
The police chief’s brainchild is being highly appreciated among the police force, media circle and other groups.
The movie which was screened without intermission evoked good response with policemen whistling and clapping on the hyper active dialogues especially by Ashok Shraf, who plays the role of head constable in the movie.
Singham’s crusade against corruption, clashing with his seniors, and other scenes were applauded by the police audience throughout the screening.
“The movie is quite dramatized but it can be taken for motivating the force…I pray that the police force try to live up to what has been seen here (in the movie),” Arya said while addressing the gathering after the movie.
He said the department will ensure that they serve better for the people of Goa.
“Lets us work as a team for Goans. I hope we live up as public servants…I also appeal to the people that they help us so as we are able to serve you better,” the police chief said further.
Speaking to the media outside the auditorium, Arya said the aim to screen the movie was to motivate his force. “There is trust deficit and hence we decided to hold this special screening (of the movie) so that the department is able to perform better,” he said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav, SP (anti narcotics squad) Vijay Singh, North Goa SP Arvind Gawas, SP (Special Branch) Atmaram Deshpande, SP (Coastal Security) Tony Fernandes and others were also present during the screening.
